The Revolution will Not Be Educated.
Linda McMahon’s mission: Turn higher education into ignorance factories.
“If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.”
- Thomas Jefferson, in a letter to Charles Yancey. January 6, 1816.
Democracy is a bit like fire. It takes legislation, governance, and an educated electorate, to function.
The Fifth Estate of democracy is education. This is why free public education has always been a pillar of American democracy and self-governance.
People who are educated can make informed decisions. They can also talk back. This is why they are anathema, to autocrats.
The media have been chasing the flack: Gaetz. Gabbard. Hegseth.
Linda McMahon, ignored by virtually all of the media, is the one person with the biggest job: Keep the STEM moving, but take the steam out of broad, inclusive education.
Public schools are designed to serve ALL members of a pluralistic society. Since the days of Ronald Reagan, in the 1980s, the Right has been “softening up” primary and secondary educational institutions, and moving them towards illiberal education that holds up the norms of only a limited white Christian nationalist slice of our population.
Demolishing the Last Pillar of Democracy
History is written by the victors. If you don’t like the way that history evolves? Try to re-write it, by reshaping post-Secondary (higher) education.
Eliminate liberal speech, debate, and dissent, and the “common wisdom” of the “educated” becomes the funders’ take on how the world should be seen.

If confirmed, as Secretary of Education, it will be her job, to pick up the wrecking ball that governor Ron DeSantis has built, for higher education, in his neofascist laboratory, in Florida, and nationally apply it.
The mainstream media will not pick up on it, for years, if at all.
The War on Higher Education
Florida has been a living laboratory for the spread of “acceptable” authoritarianism.
Trump and his rival, Governor Ron DeSantis, both spoke openly, on the primary campaign trail, of making higher education less “woke,” and more accountable to Right-wing ideology.
